Brian Trenchard-Smith blogs on filmindustrybloggers.com

27th Jun 08

Brian Trenchard-Smith blogs on filmindustrybloggers.com Hi guys. A great new blog site has started up which I recommend you all head over and have a look at. In the words of the site organiser...

The idea of the site is to draw together professionals working throughout the film and television Industry to blog weekly about their experiences in making film, television, commercials and music videos.
Launching with over 20 Film Blogs, including top Hollywood Storyboard Artist Warren Drummond ('The Bourne Identity', 'Evan Almighty' and John Singleton's new movie 'The A-Team'), Production Assistant Brandie Posey ('Deal or No Deal', 'House M.D' and ’Jerry Springer’.) and Brian Trenchard-Smith (credited by Quentin Tarrantino as his 'favorite obscure director' and responsible for over 40 movies – including The Leprechaun movies - and over 200 television episodes), the site plans to host over 90 movie maker professionals by September 2008 - covering all aspects of the motion picture industry.

Of particular interest to us is the blog by the infamous Brian Trenchard-Smith, who years ago directed site favourite The Man From Hong Kong and whose blog alone is good for hours of reading, particularly the hilarious story of how Leprechaun 4: In space got green lit ("So the Leprechaun comes out…of the man’s penis?") the rib tickling tales of working in episodic TV in the early nineties ("Take a polaroid of this guy, you're never gonna see him again.") and the trials and tribulations of working with CG dinosaurs ("My reptilian brain is really active tonight. Must cut out red meat…Seriously.") And if you scroll down far enough there's even info on the makinng of Turkey Shoot aka Blood Camp Thatcher. No kidding.

Check it out at filmindustrybloggers.com, or head directly to Brian's blog at filmindustrybloggers.com/thegenredirector. You might want to consider bookmarking that page.

The Number 23

An interesting premise squandered on a by-the-numbers plot The Number 23 doesn’t really add up to the sum of its parts.
