It’s been hailed by critics as one of the most innovative, inventive and original films of the year and now, after a limited, highly acclaimed theatrical release, La Antena is making its way to DVD, released by Dogwoof on 18 August 2008.
The film is a breathtaking, silent black-and-white tale that offers a nightmarish vision of a world dominated by trashy TV; a grim place where the ability to speak has been snatched from the people.
Referencing classic silent cinema, Esteban Sapir’s wildly imaginative Argentinian offering puts a modern spin on the genre, but only by using classic black-and-white methods – there’s precious little CGI on show here, merely Sapir’s ingenious and resourceful skills.
