Shaun of the Dead receives two BAFTA nominations

 Forget the fact that The Aviator has received a stunning 14 nominations (out of a possible 15 - surely this must finally be Marty's year for an Oscar), the really great news about the BAFTA nominations is that Shaun of the Dead is up for two awards.
Competing in both the Alexander Korda Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year and the Carl Foreman Award for Special Achievement by a Director, Screenwriter or Producer in their first feature film (for producer Nira Park), this must be great news for all UK horror film fans.
Director Edgar Wright: "The fact that a zombie film has been nominated for a BAFTA full stop is pretty impressive. Regardless of anything else we achieved on this film, the fact that zombies are in the BAFTAs is top. God knows whether zombies can beat out Vera Drake but it is nice to be nominated."
