DVD releases - wc 28th March 2005

 Probably the best release this week is the Collector's Edition of the Dreamworks remake of The Ring, co-inciding with the release of Ring 2 which will be appearing at our cinema screen very shortly. If you haven't got this film yet, then this is the version to get.
Aside from that - it's a relatively poor week with only a special edition of Jet Li's The Master provoking any real interest, although Ryan Phillipe's straight-to-DVD film The I Inside isn't all that bad. The Hillside Strangler is probably best avoided, unless you like seeing lots of naked girls being viciously (and needlessly) killed on-screen.
Over in the States it's a poor week too, but at least there's the long-awaited 'Special Edition' of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's 'almost classic' porn comedy, Orgazmo. Let's hope Team America gets a similar special treatment when that's released shortly.

 The Hillside Strangler
Region 2 - Tartan - £15.99
The so-called "Hillside Strangler" was actually two men, Angelo Buono Jr. and Kenneth Bianchi, who left a trail of sexually-violated and murdered young women in their wake, and threw Southern California into a state of terror for two long years. Directed by Chuck (Ed Gein) Parello, and starring C. Thomas Howell (The Hitcher) and Nicholas Turturro, these boys deliver plenty of gore and blood with their pizzas.
Presented in anamorphic widescreen with DD5.1 & DTS 5.1 Surround audio, DVD extras include director’s commentary, cast interviews, deleted scenes and DVD notes by Slasherama’s Jason Arnopp
