More news on Chan-wook Park's Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
4th Apr 05
Aintitcool.com have just relelased more information on Chan-wook Park's third part of his vengeance trilogy, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance in the shape of a Korean press interview with the director Park and the 'Lady' in question Lee Young Ae.
The trilogy began with Park's Sympathy for Mr Vengeance in 2002, and this was followed by last year's mind-blowing Oldboy. Park's latest film follows a "Lady"(Gumja) who has been sent to prison for 13 years and is preparing for revenge.
Yet this is definitely Park's last vengeance movie (probably) as he reveals in the interview - "In a society vengence is not permitted, but it is something that everyone feels regularly. We feel it everyday but it is not permitted so perhaps that is why I have worked with this theme. Honestly 3 movies on vengence is enough."
So, we'll expect a romantic comedy after this one then shall we?
8th Jun 04 The film opens with a very similar voiceover narration to the original (see Trivia) but with different footage as we tour the furnace room, all fingernail scratches and blood-clotted hair, of the Hewitt residence.
