First 14 minute review of Land of the Dead
18th May 05
It is without a doubt the most aniticipated horror event of the year as George A. Romero releases his fourth part in his zombie epic, Land of the Dead in the US on June 14th (and here in the UK on July 29th), and here at eatmybrains we're as excited as a leprachaun on Paddy's day.
So far, we've been treated to several 'zombie' accounts of several extras, many pictures, and the trailer (see here for more details), but until now we've been scarce on reviews by people who have actually seen any of the footage.
Now that all has changed, as aintitcoolnews have published a review from the 14-minute screening that Romero recently showed in Cannes, along with Asia Argento, John Leguziamo, Dennis Hopper & Wife and some dude called Simon.
Review Excerpt: "Anyway: The 14 minutes rocked hard. In fact, those 14 awesome minutes were even better than that whole DAWN OF THE DEAD remake. Romero uses incredible good animatronics for his zombies and some CG that you can almost not see. It was totally awesome."
The review goes on to talk about the opening few minutes, including details of many many headshots from Leguziamo, and some fantastic zombie make-up. Yup, we're still excited...
See aintitcoolnews for the full review.
Also - you can visit Horror-movies.ca to see the footage of Romero and the cast of Land of the Dead arriving on the Red Carpet for the preview screening of Land of the Dead.
More Information
George Romero's Land of the Dead (to give it its full official title) features a plot whereby the zombies have taken over the world and those humans still left alive are confined to a walled-in city that keeps out the corpse corps.
Anarchy rules the streets, with the wealthy insulated and living in fortified skyscrapers. The story revolves around a group of scavengers who must thwart an attempt to overthrow the city while the dead evolve from brainless slow-moving creatures into more advanced creatures.
