MirrorMask trailer 'suddenly appears'

 Now this is very strange indeed, and also quite creepy. We knew the first cinematic teaming of Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean was going to be something dark and twisted, but we never really expected this...
The first official clip for MirrorMask has now appeared online at AOL, and it's certainly whetted our appetite for the full film. Set to a very haunting rendition of The Carpenter's 'Close To You', the clip shows the film's 15 year old heroine, Helena, and her interaction with a group of singing robots.

MirrorMask is the film debut of the reknowned comic partnership (see Violent Cases, Black Orchid, Signal To Noise etc) of writer Neil Gaiman and illustrator Dave McKean. The idea about a girl who leaves the circus and finds herself on a perilous journey through the Dark Lands, came from Lisa Henson of Jim Henson Company who approached Gaiman and McKean to work on a film in the same ilk as The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Gaiman immediately took up writing duties and McKean jumped into the director's chair.
