13th Jul 05
With George Romero's latest Land of the Dead still to hit UK shores (September 9th is the current release date), now's about the time to roll out the old classics, in particular a definitive DVD edition of the film that started it all - George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead.
You know the story of this film by now - filmed in 1968 under the initial names of Monster Flick, Night of the Flesh Eaters and Night of the Anubis before receiving it's now classic moniker, NOTLD then went on to create, define and subvert a whole genre which ultimately led to sequels Dawn.., Day.. and now Land of the Dead, as well as countless imitators.
Over the years, many different versions have appeared on DVD in the UK but, to date, none have ever given it the treatment it deserves. Now Contender Home Entertainmentare finally releasing the film onto DVD in the version the director intended.
Fully restored and remastered in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, this Special Collector's Edition of Night of the Living Dead comes in a limited edition packaging and features a host of previously unavailable extras.
The DVD (cert. 18) will be released by Contender Home Entertainment on 5th September 2005 at the rrp of £19.99. Special Features include:

...and selected scenes from George A. Romero's lost film There's Always Vanilla.
The word 'zombie' is never once mentioned in the film.
