It's just been confirmed that Neil Marshall, writer / director of the current 'Top Horror Film of the Year' The Descent has had his next project, Doomsday, greenlit by US production companies Rogue Pictures and Crystal Sky Pictures.
Doomsday has been pitched as a 'futuristic action thriller with political overtones, in the vein of Mad Max'.
Really? Well, if anyone can make a great futuristic sci-fi set in the UK (specifically Scotland and North of England), then it's got to be Neil Marshall.
We haven't heard too much about the plot as yet, but Marshall did reveal to empireonline that the film concerns 'a disaster threatening the future of mankind, at a time when the world has become a very intense place to live'.
Production is set to commence next spring, on a budget of US$15Ė20 million.
Also on the latest Neil Marshall news, bloodydisgusting have revealed that The Descent will be released in the US by Lions Gate Film some time around mid-2006. Not too long to wait then...
