More news on The Return of the Living Dead sequels

 Seeing as Eatmybrains couldn't afford the plane ticket to Cannes this year, we're having to rely on news reports from other people coming in.
Thankfully Empireonline.co.uk are posting daily reports from the madness that is the Festival De Cannes, and recently they spoke to Anatoly Fradis, the producer of the forthcoming cheapie back-to-back sequels, Return of the Living Dead 4 & 5.
Over to Chris Hewitt (no relation!);
"Anatoly is what they call in the business, a character. And like a Slavic Joel Silver, he was raising the zombie bar so high that there was no zombie bar.
"It'll be a cross between real horror and a Beetlejuice-type movie. The second movie takes place at a rave where people are taking a pill which they think is an ecstacy pill but suddenly they are turning into zombies!"
Riiiight. But most intriguingly, he also told Empire that for two days the production would be decamping to Chernobyl to film a couple of key scenes. "It is so spooky. 160,000 people had to leave it. It's abandoned. The people never came back. You have nightclubs and casinos and restaurants and shops, all empty. The forest has taken over and the trees are going through the windows, taking over the city. You cannot recreate this city on a stage."
Yet doesn't he think that filming a horror film on a site where so many people died is, perhaps, going to make way for criticism? "Why would they criticise about it? We are not laughing about it, we are not making fun of it."
Hmm...
