Well, we voted Scanners as having the Top One, Numero Uno Head Explosion of all time (see our Top Ten Head Explosions for a gerat animated gif!), so it's good to see that Anchor Bay UK have put together a great package for the 3-disc Scanners release, coming our way to the UK on July 18th.
Scanners, the 1981 David Cronenberg original and the two sequels Scanners II: The New Order ('91) and Scanners III: The Takeover ('92) will all be presented in 16x9-enhanced 1.85:1 widescreen with DTS, 5.1 and 2.0 audio tracks, and all three films will be accompanied by trailers, stills, biographies and film notes.
Renowned horror critic and writer, Alan Jones (he's certainly getting around of late, what with also providing the commentary for several new Argento DVDs - see earlier news) has compiled an in-depth examination for each film, and the original Scanners also comes with a David Cronenberg documentary.
"It's the Scanners, sir! They've got out!"
The three discs will also be available separately on the 18th from Anchor Bay UK, which is also issuing a new disc of Cronenberg's The Brood (extras to be announced) on the same day.
4th Oct 04 With its fine blend of dark humour and shock horror, you will barely be able to avert your gaze from the screen; from the opening sequence on the desolate moors, to the thrilling finale in Piccadilly Circus.
