The Hills Have Eyes and a new cast

 After the success of his French slasher Switchblade Romance (or Haute Tension or High Tension depending on where you live), Alexandre Aja was offered the dream job of working for Wes Craven on the remake of one of Craven's most notorious early shockers, The Hills Have Eyes.
It's been a while in pre-production (the project even switched production houses at one point), but it now seems things are finally gearing up for the shoot with the announcement of four cast members in the film. Aaron Stanford, Kathleen Quinlan, Ted Levine and Vinessa Shaw have all signed up for the remake which begins shooting on Morocco later this month.
Aaron Stanford is perhaps best known as Pyro on X2 and is set to play Doug Wood, one of the members of the family who break down in the wilderness, while Vinessa (Melinda and Melinda) Shaw will play his wife, Lynne. Kathleen (Event Horizon) Quinlan is cast in the role of Ethel Carter with Ted (Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs) Levine as her husband, Big Bob Carter.
Also starring are Emilie de Ravin as Brenda Carter, Dan Byrd as Bobby Carter and Robert Joy as Lizard. Billy Drago and Tom Bower also have been cast according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Unfortunately, there's still no details on whether Beauty and Beast will make an appearance in the remake. Let's hope so.

Recently snatched from Dimension, The Hills Have Eyes will be directed by Alex Aja (Switchblade Romance) and is about a family travelling across New Mexico. When their trailer breaks down in the middle of the desert, they soon find themselves preyed upon by a cannibalistic, feral group of people, victims of years of nuclear testing in the area....
Wes Craven who directed the original will be producing this time around with Marianne Maddalena and Peter Locke.
