Great news! One of our favourite films of last year's FrightFest event (see here), Calvaire is finally getting a release later this week thanks to Tartan.
Combining the eerie atmospheres of Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Deliverance, Fabrice Du Welz's debut feature is a high-class 'survival' horror film which premiered at the Critics Week at Cannes in 2004.
Calvaire stars Laurent Lucas as travelling performer Marc Singer, an outsider in peril against a psychologically disturbed and isolated local community.
After a singing gig at a Nursing home, Marc leaves in his van but soon breaks in the middle of nowhere. The film opens in the UK on December 9th at the Odeon Panton St in London.
Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with the director Fabrice Du Welz, as well as a full review of the film to be published later this week.
