Greenlight for the Return of the Living Dead sequels

 Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that Return of the Living Dead 4 : Necropolis and Return of the Living Dead 5 : Rave from the Grave are to go ahead with Ellory Elkayem attached to direct.
It was announced at Cannes that the films will be financed by a $35 million equity fund that Anatoly Fradis (of Aurora Entertainment Corp) set up last year. The fund is backed by a group of E. European and Russion investors (hence filming at Chernobyl as reported earlier by Eatmybrains - see earlier news for more details).
The films were written by William Butler and Aaron Strongoni and features a relatively unkown cast drawn from TV.
One piece of good news, however, is that special effects will be provided by Optic Nerve Studios who were responsible for the zombies in Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead remake.

Shooting is expected to start in Romania on June 7th.
